STORY:
We are starting the story: " Kate's Game" Students will be introduced to long a sounds this week, summarizing and drawing conclusions while reading.Test will be next week.
SPELLING: Long a patterns. Focus on a_e. We will call it magic silent "e". Look for a handout to review with your child this week. Word families: ake, ame and ate.
HOMEWORK:
Please check your child's take home folder nightly for assignments. Review Book of Words nightly

STORY:
Super Croc, a nonfiction article. Test will be this Friday, 2/10th.
SPELLING:
H diagraphs: ch, sh, wh, th. We will learn them as the H Brothers. Students will compare and contrast the sounds of -ch and -tch. Test will be this Thurs. 2-9th
AR Requirements:
AR Requirements: Requirements for the 3rd nine weeks are due on March 14th. All students in the 2nd grade are required to read 3 AR books, pass each AR test and complete AR STAR page on it.
HOMEWORK:
Please check your child's take home folder nightly.

STORY:One Riddle One Answer", test on story will be this Thursday, 2-9th.
SPELLING:
words with -air, -ear, -are and -eir. Test will be this Wed. 2-8th
3rd Nine weeks AR Requirements:
*All students are required to read 3 AR books leveled 2.0 or higher and pass required AR test on or before March 14th .
Students will be required to complete a book report on 1 of the 3 books read. Report forms will go out with AR requirement slips. Book reports due on March 12th.
HOMEWORK: Please check your child's planner nightly.
