Art Room News
  • If you notice SIXTH-GRADERS with white paste on their uniforms, then you'll know they've been hard at work in the art room, learning the art of papier-mache'. By the end of the first nine-week period, all sixth-grade students will have completed hot-air balloons, which will soon be displayed in the library.
  • Some THIRD-GRADERS are working on outer-space drawings and will soon design their own colorful spaceships to add to their work. Others are working on underwater scenes and colorful large-scale fish drawings, using colored pencil on black paper.
  • The art room is filled with the fresh scent of Ivory soap....our EIGHTH-GRADE boys are enjoying the challenge of creating mini-sculptures from bars of soap. They are also completing a project on 1-point perspective drawing.
  • FIRST-GRADE students are focusing on lots of things they can draw using curving lines, such as colorful vines and big, fat caterpillars.....
  • KINDERGARTENERS are using familiar shapes of rectangles for houses, where they will draw all of the important parts of the house themselves.
  • All SEVENTH-GRADERS are spending several days devoted to improving their drawing skills by drawing 3-dimensional objects from observation.
  • During the next several weeks, students in FOURTH-GRADE will be designing their own fantasy treehouses and drawing colorful oil pastel clown faces. They will also be learning to draw from observation, drawing transparent jars and adding whatever they want inside!
  • And all SECOND-GRADERS will soon be taking home hand-made yellow name banners which they traced, outlined, and decorated themselves during the first few weeks of school....
  • (The FIFTH-GRADERS will visit the art room during the 2nd nine-week period.)
  • As you can see, we're off to a very productive school year in the art room!
