January 30th - Feb. 3rd, 2012

MASS on Monday - Catholic Schools Week - Dress Uniforms required
Language Arts
This week we will meet Ms. Ll with her "Longest Laugh". We will talk about feelings and what things make us laugh.

We will also finish up our 100's day book!

Thursday is Ground Hog day - we will have a special snack as well as do a little science experiment watching how our shadows change depending on the direction of the light/sun.

Book of Words - Testing for this new list will be the week of Jan. 30th. It is important to learn the new words but also review/practice the older lists/words.

Letters introduced so far: Mm, Dd, Pp, Nn, Ff, Hh, Aa, Bb, Zz, Yy, Ii, Ss, Rr, Uu, Oo, Ll
Math
We will begin Chapter 7 Time and Money.
We will start with days of the week, then cover the concept of yesterday, today, tomorrow, followed by months and seasons, and finally the calendar. Since this material is reviewed daily during carpet time it should be a piece of cake! :)

Remember: all numbers begin at the "sky"/ top and to to the "grass"/bottom when writing.

Please continue to practice left and right.
Religion
We will celebrate Mass on Monday. After class discussion and personal reflection, the students will use their sounding out/ inventive spelling skills to write on Catholic Schools Week topics.
