*A very big thank you for all the special notes and gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week! It is a privilege to work with such amazing children and their parents.
*The Living Rosary is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23. Second graders will wear their First Eucharist outfits to school that day and report directly to the classroom. After the Living Rosary, students will change into their regular school uniform. Please send their uniform, socks, and shoes in a bag labeled with their name. Parents may stay to help with the changing of clothes after the rosary.
*Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 24. Your child will wear a colored shirt that day, along with uniform bottoms or jumpers. A note went home on Friday listing your child's team color.
*I will not be in the classroom on Thursday due to my daughter's graduation. Please send any transportation changes with your child that day, as my sub will not be able to access email. Thanks!
*When your child is absent or checking out early, please send me an email so that I may prepare any missed assignments for them. Students are expected to have completed any missed work and tests upon their return, unless other arrangements have been made. Your cooperation with this is very much appreciated and will help your child tremendously! |

School Mass
|
|
| The students will be participating in a school wide Mass on Friday, May 25. Please make sure your child is wearing their dress uniform (long pants for boys and blouses with jumpers for girls). A donation to the Food Bank is always appreciated on Mass days. |
|

|
Test Folders
|
|
| Test folders will go home with your child on Monday. After reviewing the work, please sign and return the folder by Wednesday. |
|
|
|
|
Red Homework Notebooks and Red Folders
|
|
| Each day, your child will be bringing home their red homework notebook and red folder. The notebook contains the homework assignments from each of their classes. The red folder contains notes and homework assignments that need to be returned to school. Please make sure to review this with your child each night and send both the notebook and folder back each morning. |

Math
We will complete our Time unit this week. The test will be on Tuesday, May 15. Also, we are practicing Rocket Math Set J each day. Please continue to review these facts at home on a daily basis.
Reading
Reading Logs-There will not be a reading log this week!
We will complete our story The Moon this week. The skills included with this story include reading comprehension, vocabulary, words with hard and soft consonant sounds (hard and soft c and g), categorizing and classifying,and compound words. Reading and Phonics will be combined into one test, which will be on Tuesday, May 15 and the Spelling test will be on Wednesday,May 16.
Language Arts/English
We will complete a creative writing project this week.
Science
We will be learning about different animal habitats this week. Students will be working in groups and creating an animal habitat. Look for a letter on Monday explaining how you can help with this special project.
Religion
We are learning about the Rosary this week in preparation for the Living Rosary. A study guide went home last week and the quiz will be on Tuesday, May 15.
Library
We will be visiting the library every Thursday. Please remember to send back the books on Wednesday or Thursday.
Cultural Literacy
Where there's a will, there's a way.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
The students will learn the meaning of these sayings as part of the Core Knowledge curriculum.
Handwriting
The children have been doing a wonderful job with their cursive writing! We will practice writing both lower and upper case letters. Practice sheets will be sent home periodically, and these do not need to be returned to school. |
